FM3 Firmware Version 4.00

And I have today off work !!!
I know what I’ll be doing today .
Thanx FAS.
🍻
Can I ask you a question. I’m new to this forum. I just updated the standard version Cygnus from the beta. My output 2 setting is a copy and my volume dropped by 70%. I’m thinking it must have went to unity mode. I need to check. Have you heard of this issue? Im just reaching out for help.

If it's reading your settings every time, then it's not installed correctly. Perhaps it's not able to write to your %AppData%\Roaming\Fractal Audio\FM3-Edit folder where it keeps the cache. Maybe there are permission issues with folders on your hard drive. I'd check and see if your effectDefinitions_11_4p0.cache file is getting updated when FM3-Edit enumerates the blocks from the unit.

Setup > I/O > Audio > OUTPUT 2 CONFIGURATION > Output Type.

No... It will do it every time the editor is started, unless you disable it.
Hasn’t been my experience. Maybe I disabled it, but I make sure to manually run the scan whenever I do anything significant. Seemed like the proper thing to do. Just like incremental saving of anything important. I’ll have to look. I hate computing devices doing things that I don’t tell them to do first. So I could have turned it off. It seems others experience the same simple, trouble free, standard behavior that I have. The only times I have anything longer that a few seconds was when doing all the beta changes and I would backup and delete everything and reset and load the new stuff and presets. Then it would go through everything which would maybe take a minute or two.

I skipped the beta versions, so haven't gotten to try the new drives + Cygnus till now. FM3 sounded sweet before but man this thing sounds good now!! Such a joy to play, response, feel, dynamics are crazy good. Incredible work FAS, and much appreciated!

It sure is!! I’m new to the FM3, but I have said if these new algorithms were what I experienced 20 years ago when I first plugged into a modeler I would have never had the bad opinion I had for many years. Everything I initially found to be unacceptable and fake are now there and real.

I'm not trying to prove anything. I'm trying to make sure you understand the difference because some people don't, and the wording of your post sounded like you were one of them.
I'll refrain from offering you any help in the future.
Yes, the only supremeness unix_guy has is his Unix knowledge. It surpasses his IBM OS2 knowledge which is kinda lacking.

I had the issue of FM3 Edit always refreshing each time. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and it was fixed.
When I see something not lining up (like if i import a preset) I click Settings then Refresh after new firmware. Works great! onlyl re-loads block defs. etc. when I want it to.

Not sure how my name got quoted saying that in your last post?

That is really weird!

That happened to me once about ten years ago. A forum member took someone else’s post and quoted it as if I said it. That was a bit of a shock.
Switch to BBCode edit view and you can see the code that's used to quote reference posts and how you can manipulate it (intentionally or, as I suspect is the case here, accidentally) to incorrectly attribute a post to someone else.

For example, I didn't say this:

My assumption was as accidental editing issue...

been using windows since MS-DOS days lol...

I've used FAS software on XP, 7, 8, 10, never an issue.

Except for my win 7 laptop, I've built every PC myself to ensure hardware compatibility through component upgrades.

Fixing friends PC's over the years, always the same thing. They installed the wrong drivers. They pirated software. They visit porn sites. They clicked questionable links. They don't use a VPN. They have the cheapest or built in AV. They have 700 things running in the background. They have a disk Defrag program killing their 5 year old HDD, and refuse to upgrade to solid state. They don't know how to look at error logs. They don't want to learn. They leave everything at "default" installation setting.

It's very rare these days that hardware like USB ports fails on a PC in its lifetime. Likewise Windows 10 is so robust, meaning they've made it compatible with 99.9% of possible scenarios. Further, you can have all kinds of config errors popping every second without even knowing, while still having a seamless user experience.

Maybe it's just me, but imo Windows is not the problem.

And using laptop for audio the right energy settings are essential.

Yeah... for some reason I think I clicked by accident replying to one of your posts in passing. Then I replied to unix guy. As a result there were two references in my reply. So, I deleted the text that was quoted from your post. But, I did not delete enough of it, so your name was still referenced.
I should have just cancelled out and re-did my reply. But, I like being sloppy- so all is good.

Yeah... I think I accidentally hit the reply button twice. Then I saw both quotes.., and did a bad job of deleting the wrong quote.

I don’t have copy out, I use output 2 into a power amp/cab setting.
I’m sure someone else here has the answer. I’ve read similar question that we’re resolved.
