Fletcher-Munson curve query

Heh...I wish here were a formula you could use to automatically account for it all. It would make things so much simpler. But that, u fortunately, is an later native universe. :)
 
It doesn't matter. These are equal-loudness curves. All that matters is the relative power at different frequencies. That's independent of the units used.

Agreed, it doesn't really matter in this context. It alarms the pedantic me who tries to explain to students which is which, why you use it, and why a Sound Intensity meter looks funny compared to an SPL meter. There's a time and a place however. :)
 
Once the song is mixed and played back, Fletcher-Munson affects all the instruments equally, so their relative mix stays the same.

Yes, My question was rhetorical :)

My point is if you have no standard reference level, then depending on the day and the SPL you use that day, your presets won't sound the same.

This could lead to constant tweaking to compensate for the different SPL levels.
