FC-12 Layout 7 odd behavior - resolved

Got the FC-12 today and love it. Right out of the box, it looks like Layouts 7 and 8 will give me all that I need. I'm noticing some odd behavior with the Preset +4 and Preset -4 selections, however, and thought I'd post it. This behavior happens in both the + and - directions. For convenience, I started this test with factory preset 0, and all the presets noted are factory presets. Basically, the issue is that when I press the +4 or -4 button, the names in the mini-display don't always change. I've left the selected preset as the first of the four in each group. Whenever I use the +4 or -4 buttons, the name in the main display is correct, for the first preset in the group of 4 presets. Here's a listing of several iterations. For preset names, I'm giving the factory preset number for conciseness.

Preset group increment Preset names in mini-display LED ring illumination Main display name
(initial condition) 0, 1, 2, 3 0 0
+4 0, 1, 2, 3 none 4
+4 0, 1, 2, 3 none 8
+4 10, 11, 12, 13 12 12
+4 10, 11, 12, 13 none 16
+4 20, 21, 22, 23 20 20
+4 20, 21, 22, 23 none 24
+4 20, 21, 22, 23 none 28
+4 30, 31, 32, 33 32 32
+4 30, 31, 32, 33 none 36
+4 40, 41, 42, 43 40 40
+4 40, 41, 42, 43 none 44
+4 40, 41, 42, 43 none 48
+4 50, 51, 52, 53 52 52

I stopped there, since a pattern emerged. Using the -4 switch brought me through the same sequence, back down to 0. This happens with or without Axe Edit connected, and happens with the Startup Layout being either 0 or 7.

Any ideas? Thanks, John

Well, despite my best efforts at formattig this for easy reading, it looks like the efforts were in vain. Any ideas how to help the formatting so it isn't annoying to look at? :) John

this Layout doesn't use the "Bank Up" command to change presets (P +4 and -4 switches). the Bank Size defaults to 10, which works for Layout 1. but for example Layout 7, a different Preset command needed to be used.

i'll have to revisit the FC myself, but there may be an intricacy with that type of command in relation to the Preset Switches. maybe not a bug, just something to be adjusted? i'll try to confirm the behavior later today and report back.

Let's try this:

Well, you can see that this isn't my area of expertise...sorry... :-(
You were told to use the “code” tag, not table html ;)

https://www.bbcode.org/reference.php

I just tried it and I think it’s expected behavior for now. The bank size is 10, that’s why the preset names aren’t changing with each P+ press.

This may have to be changed via firmware if I understand what’s happening correctly.

This forum doesn't support the table BB tag. See the "Help" for a list of supported tags.

Is layout 7 the Perform 1
I would think if you followed the example in manual
The preset +1. And Preset -1
Should change the preset name in the big display should it not
Or am I reading this incorrectly

Ah, yes. It was late, and I used a "free bbcode generator" to generate the code. But per Cliff's comment, the forum doesn't support tables.

You are correct that the bank size was the issue. I changed it to Bank Size 4 on the Config page, and all works as I was expecting. Perhaps in a future firmware update when Layout 7 is selected, the Bank Size will be changed to 4 automatically.

For completeness of this thread, I've uploaded a pdf file of the data I was trying to relay, in table format!

Thanks for all your help! John
