Yeah but still right angle plugs take less space even at the top. On the FX8(or whatever device) side also.
When i wire my pedalboards i always use right angle plugs.

I try and keep all connectors at the top of my board right angle purely for the fact they are more flush with my board. Anything that sticks out just gets stepped on by a vocalist
