Ext pedal doesn't work

Hi guys...

Sorry for all the posts these days, I hope you can forgive me :)

I use my (mission) expo. pedal at input 1 on my MCF and it functions as a volume pedal and works perfectly, always did. Now here is the strange thing I can't figure out.... I brought my pedal with me home to do some testing of presets, connected it to the ext. input 1 directly to the Axe with a stereo cable (that I am 100% sure are not defect) and now the preset doesn't react to the pedal anymore???? Same thing if I set it up as an expression. no 2 and use the second input on the axe. Cant calibrate it either....

Any good ideas... I'm going crazy here....

You need to set the Ext Ctrl you intend to use (I/O: CTRL menu) to Pedal 1 or Pedal 2. Also make sure you set pedal type to "continuous".

There's no on-screen indication that calibration is working or not. If you follow the steps and the pedal seems to work fine, you can assume calibration worked.

To set up a global volume pedal, without using a Volume block:

  1. Connect and calibrate an expression pedal using a TRS cable, connect to a PEDAL jack.
  2. Open the PEDAL page of the I/O menu. Select PEDAL CAL (depending on where your pedal is connected). Press the ENTER button and follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate.
  3. Select the volume function of your choice: open the CTRL page of the I/O menu. At the top of the CTRL menu, NAV to the entry for the volume you want to control:
    • INPUT VOLUME – Changing this is just like adjusting your guitar’s volume.
    • OUT 1 (MAIN) VOLUME – This controls the level of everything at Out 1. Effects, amp, tails, etc.
    • OUT 2 (FX SEND) VOLUME – This controls the level of everything at Out 2.
  4. Change the value for the desired entry to PEDAL ..., depending on which pedal jack you’re using.

thank you for the prompt reply.... I have the pedal setup to control vol in axe edit, and when I look at the ctrl menu it also says vol. In the I/O it says continuos, everything is as you describe.... Just checked the cable, it's fine (it's a planet wave stereo into. cable)

Did that as well... doesn't work

1. When you say "pedal setup to control vol in axe edit", do you mean you have a vol/pan block with an External Control selected as volume modifier source? If so, which Ext Ctrl # is selected?

2. In the I/O: CTRL menu, what is that Ext Ctrl # set to? This is the thing that needs to be set to Pedal 1 (or Pedal 2 if using Pedal 2 port).

3. What does "when I look at the ctrl menu it also says vol" mean? There are several parameters with "vol" or "volume" in the name. This doesn't tell us which value any of them are set to, or if any of those settings might be a problem.

THAT WAS IT BAKERMAN....YOU ARE A STAR:cool:

2. It was set to 16 (assumed it was only 1-128 midi no) scrolled that to pedal 1 and off we go that was it.

thank you all so much :D

That was step 4 from the wiki. Glad you got it sorted out. You will need to change it back to use the MFC the same as before.

I think I got confused because I just unplugged the thing at my rehearsal room and plugged it directly in the axe expecting it to work.
