The solo is at about 2:36 in.

What type of amp or drive settings would make this kind of tone?

Any thoughts about how to reproduce this tone (solo at 2:36)?

I'm no expert but sometimes those types of "lo-fi" sounds are created by putting a distortion pedal into an EQ and nothing else. No amp or cab sim.

Yep, that's how I do it, too. Fuzz and Ringmodulator set for octave down to taste.

Wow - never would have thought to try that. I'll give it a shot this weekend. Thanks!

As long as we're on the subject, it's also a technique Reznor supposedly used quite a bit for Nine Inch Nails stuff.

It sounds like it on stuff like Head Like a Hole. Also I know Nirvana did it for Territorial Pissings.
