Actually I've read they reached 1km, aka roughly 3000'.

Anyway I'm pretty safe, I'm 200 km away from it

Yep, consider that the volcano is 3350 meters high and in the first Instagram pic you can see it pretty much in its entirety and in proportion to the eruption (and I don't even know if the fountains captured in that pic are the tallest)

I noticed that in the videos from the first couple of days that were shot from Catania at sea level and was trying to estimate the height of the fountains when I realized how high Etna already is. Then looking at the video you posted was even more amazing. (amateur geologist - I love this stuff... ;-)
