Encryption

Factory cabs are proprietary - which is a drag if you are trying to build a single IR mix. A lot of them are available for purchase from FAS and 3rd party vendors which don’t have the same restrictions.
 
This has nothing to do with factory vs. user.
IRs per se are not encrypted. An example of an unencrypted IR is a wave file.
.IR (pronounced "dot eye are") is an encrypted file format used to store certain IRs.
These are proprietary to the Fractal Audio platform.

Sure, but to be more specific, why are IRs produced by "Wav2Syx" encrypted? I built a cli version which is much faster, but releasing it will reveal your encryption scheme. Does the last byte in the "header" indicate whether the contents are encrypted or not?
