Edit Preferences -> Workspace -> Global Settings Path in FM3-Edit

I recently bought a new MacBook Pro and performed a migration from my old one which had my FM3 settings on it. The problem is that my old computer's user directory was GarrettHagen 1 while the user directory on my new computer is GarrettHagen. So basically what happens is that FM3-Edit is still looking in /Users/GarrettHagen 1/Library/Application Support/Fractal Audio/FM3-Edit/ when it should be looking in /Users/GarrettHagen/Library/Application Support/Fractal Audio/FM3-Edit/.

This path is leading to an "Effect Definitions Error: Unable to create default directory: /Users/GarrettHagen 1/Library/Application Support/Fractal Audio/FM3-Edit/" permission denied, which obviously makes sense given it would need root permissions to create this new user path - which I dont want.

Unfortunately, from the FM3-Edit UI, this path is not configurable either so I don't see an obvious way to reset/override it. I have tried reinstalling FM3-Edit multiple times but to no avail. Wondering if anyone has encountered this before and/or knows how to fix it? I am a software engineer by trade so I am totally willing to get my hands dirty if anyone has any ideas. Thanks!:p

Edit bases its preferences from the OS user path based on how macOS and Windows define it. That requirement only applies to Edit's specific preference for Edit's configuration information. On macOS it'll be ~/Library/Application Support/Fractal Audio/<model>; On my units it works out to /Users/gregferguson/Library/Application Support/Fractal Audio/FM3-Edit/.

Copy Edit's old files from your old directory to your new user home directory into that path; At a minimum move FM3-Edit.settings and color-assignments_iii.dat and Edit will gather the firmware's definitions and recreate the effectDefinitions cache files.

For the Snapshots, Library and Preset Templates directories we're free to use any path. I have mine pointing to an external drive path that's actually used for my Dropbox cloud storage, which automatically mirrors those directories to my macOS laptop.

"Hello, I have moved my user to an external NVMe2 drive, and now FM3 Edit cannot access that folder, as it has been fixed in the previous location. As you mentioned, it cannot be changed. Do you have any ideas on how to solve this?"
