Eagles / Rush / Kiss

Saw the Eagles last week, Rush the week before that.

In terms of sound quality Eagles concerts continue to be totally amazing to me (I've seen 3). Though our venue is fairly good, the Eagles seem to do an outstanding job getting a great sound to their audiences (Maybe it was where I was sitting - mid floor centre). Everything was crystal clear. It does not hurt that they have an endless catalogue of great songs and outstanding musicianship. Don Henley's voice was awesome and Joe Walsh played great. Steuart Smith does a fantastic Don Felder imitation.

Rush was a bit of a disappointment for me. I love the early Rush years (up to Moving Pictures) and they played little of that. It was an outdoor general admission show which I think I'm getting too old for. The sound was bad despite our moving around to find a good listening spot. The high point for me was in the last 1/2 hour when they played 2112 and I could finally hear Alex Lifeson's guitar isolated in the mix.

I'll see Kiss on Thursday - can't get much different than these 3!!!
