Hi all,

In honor of the late great David Bowie's recent birthday, Dweezil Zappa has released a cover version of the classic, "I'm Afraid Of Americans". It is currently available at
http://dweezilzappa.com/americans

Update: VIDEO AT https://www.dweezilzappa.com/products/20450-afraid-of-americans

Dweezil says:
"The guitars on this track were recorded exclusively using the Fractal Audio Axe FX II. The basic track, guitar, bass and drums as well as the lead vocal were captured live. I had the pleasure of working with the very talented musician/singer David Brighton. He did a remarkable job on vocals! The song has a few twists that make it different from the original version including a lyrical alteration that relates to our current state of affairs.

Produced and Mixed by Dweezil Zappa
Recorded at Sunset Sound
Engineered by Morgan Stratton
Mastered By Trevor Case, Case Mastering
Dweezil Zappa - Guitar
David Brighton - Lead Vocals
Cian Coey - Background vocals
Kurt Morgan - Bass
Ryan Brown - Drums

There are 2 resolution versions, MP3 and Hi-Resolution 48k 24bit Wave.
There is also a mini documentary of the making of the track available to watch on my site as well. I hope you enjoy the song and please be on the lookout for a lot more new music soon to be added to my site.

Regards, DZ"

Wow. It's probably sacrilege, but this is my all time favorite Bowie track. Bowie and Reznor together -- what's not to love?

Dweezil nailed it. Sounds awesome. Hits hard, has his signature on it.

Dweezil is without question, one of the hardest working guitarists today, his devotion to constant growth in guitarplaying and production craftsmanship show results that are obvious each time I see /hear him perform. ...Following his career relatively late(I really didn’t pay notice to him until the Zappa Plays Zappa project, but going into his back catalog yields much pleasures) has led me to many new close friends, world travel, and perhaps most relevantly , my entree into Fractalmania , via a more or less private demonstration by @Admin M@ in a bungalow in the Catskills (Dweezilla music camp) , and it is my contention that DZ is largely responsible for the initial success of this company as one of the earliest high profile FAS artists who probly influenced many others.

Great production and paying !!
Funny to see that even at Dweezil's Axe , the output Red lights are clipping.......he won't notice because he is sitting with his back to it....seen it on some more occasions of other people......This will result in a clipped signal if I remember well from my own experiences.....or it can not hurt that much ?

Does Dweezil have his Axefx lol, will he be using 1 or 2?
I was wondering the same just now , but I know for a fact that Dweezil was planning to pare down his international tour rig in some way but only he and @Admin M@ know whether he got his hands on one (or two..?..doubt it) of the III’s before his current Australian tour..guess we will know all soon.............

So awesome to see Dweezil carry on his father's legacy and creativity.
I totally agree! I saw him live at the Zappanale #28 last year in Germany. What a great musician - not only playing the music of his father but also being creative while interpreting other songs!
