Doubtful between Cab-Lab 3 standalone and plugin

Basically, Standalone is it's own self contained software application (like Axe-Edit or Fractal-Bot). Plugin is for use inside a DAW. There's things that standalone can do that plugin can't, and vice versa.

Oversimplified use example... if you're just interested in mixing IRs to send to your Axe for live use, you want standalone. If you think you might wanna re-cab tracks after the fact in your DAW, you'll need the plugin for that (think of it as a plugin version of the cab block with some different features). Both can save mixes to disk as .syx and .ir format. If you just want to convert some .wav IRs to .syx there's a free Lite version of Standalone for that.
