Do I Have This Right?: Using a GCX w/ The Axe Fx Std.

I'm going to use my Axe Fx Std. with my Egnater M4 preamp. Assuming I use the suggested method of connection from the manual, for a preamp and poweramp setup, would I introduce the GCX loops, for outboard stomps, between the output of the preamp and input2 of the Axe? This is the only method that seems logical.

My rig will be w/d/w with the M4 feeding the input2 of the Axe (and the other M4 output to my dry amp and cab). The Axe Fx output1 L and R will feed my wet amp and cabs.
