Or a suggestion for the closest option already available.

This is the Stone Temple Pilots sound in a box.

There are a lot of great sounds in those. I know Bonnie Raitt and Sonny Landreth were using them for a while in the head versions I think.

I'm a bit of an STP geek. Been a fan of all the members and their side projects, as well. Dean mainly used the Demeter for Core and No. 4 albums. The rest of the albums were all mainly small obscure vintage amps. Supro, Magnatone, Gretsch, and ect., with 6" and 8" speakers. Dean even used an amp made out of a beer can to record some stuff on the 2010 album. Here's the link for that crazy "amp": http://www.cactusampworks.com/keg-blaster.html

Anyway, all that to say that the Demeter isn't the STP sound in a box. A lot of crazy amps are. :D

Yeah, but being able to pull off his live tones exactly would be pretty sweet. I have an STP Tribute and that would be a treat to have the Demeter in my Axe.

How do you plan on achieving the VHT power amp sound?

Remember Cliff needs an accurate schematic along with a physical unit. That is usually the sticking point for a lot of the more modern amps.

This is what I did to get Dean's stage sound. It works beautifully. IMG_7509 (1).jpg

So, um... WOW... back to the AxeFX thread though... what's the best way to get his live sound on the Axe? I've been messing with two-amp setups and haven't gotten close yet.

To be honest, any modern Marshall type amp through a cab IR with V30's; blended with a Vox AC30 and appropriate cab IR. That's it. It's fairly simple. Their FOH guy has five mics on the whole rig, so experiment with mics and blending them. Looks like a 421 & SM57 on the Marshall and maybe a Senn e906 on the Vox.

    Just stumbled on this thread.
Apologies in advance for hijacking the AxeFx aspect, but if anyone knows someone who's looking for an all-original TGA-3 amp head, early '90's era, w/ the original toroidal transformer, I'll be selling mine sometime soon.

I've been messing with that and not getting what I want... I'm going to try messing with mics to see if that's the missing link in my designs.
