CPU usage of shunts

I am trying to save CPU usage on some big presets. I just realized that just the shunts between blocks without any effect cost me already around 9 % CPU (I have a lot of of routing happening, around 50 connections).
Empty preset : 5,4% CPU
Preset with just the routing shunts and without any effect 14,3%

I was just wondering if this is normal and if this could be improved on the software side?
I believe it is already optimized but just wanted to check here, as 9% CPU just for routing seems a lot to me (though it is true I have a lot of connections).

All the best

I've saved massive amounts of CPU by absolutely minimising shunts and cables.

Also think about your IR selection, if the manufacturer has already combined an IR into a mix and that works for you - use that, less IRs loaded means less CPU.

Using input eq, pre-amp boost, output eq, amp compression in the amp block rather than separate blocks

One Cab block shared between two amp blocks

etc.etc

Gets to be a fun hobby! ;)

Fractal's spring reverb consumes quite a bit less CPU and still sounds great. I did this previously when I had an AX8.
