Chug metal with nearly all the amps in the Axe-fx [repost]

Clawfinger

Experienced
Ok, so I've done something stupid but funny. I made a chugg-chugg riff, really simple one, and reamped it through the AFX. It's the same patch, I didn't touch the EQ (LP80hz-HP10Khz), and I didn't touch any controller except Drive (with or without boost). The IR is my own, (it's on impulses.falstudios.com). Oh, there's a "ts808" before the amp, drive is zero, tone and volume maxed. Just for the extra punch into each "preamp".

Yes, I played bad. Yes, after 15-20 amps I wanted to kill myself, but hey, in the end it was worth it. I hope ;) I actually found some new favorites.

The guitar is a Gibson SG in Drop D. The bass is an Epiphone 5-string SG-3 through the AFX with a mix of an Ampeg 8x10 IR and a EBS Proline 4x10. Drums are Addictive Drums.

The format is mp3, 256kbit/s, 48khz.

Bumping an old but awesome thread. Maybe it is just me, but I think Das Metal really stands out here. It has the presence/crunch in the palm mutes, but is still really fat in the low end.

Next comes the SLO100, although I hear some weird phasing in there that sounds undesirable.

Several amps are tied for third. ; )

Addictive drums this time? How is it compared to S2?

Grymt riff, btw =)

Hah, old thread indeed. Done before S2 was released, so there's the answer. The approach is very similar, with fx in the program and such. The difference is that both the samples and the effects are...eh superior in S2. ;) I couldn't do a "load preset-done mixing" with AD, but I can do just that with S2.

Which impulse off your site did you use? They all sound so "ampy", which mine dont. Awesome stuff! I wish I could get my S2 to sound like that as well..

I also don't understand the HP/LP settings on the amp page - how does this differ from adding a PARA EQ and making 1 and 5 cut offs?

I used the Line6-MT84 IR. This was made before Cliff made the ability to use 1 and 5 as HP/LP filters. 4.xx FW. ;)
