Chi Cheng, the bassist of the Deftones died yesterday, April 13, when his heart stopped. They haven't mentioned any official cause of death yet. Not only sad, but scary. The guy was my age, but he had had some serious problems, like having part of his brain removed after a bad accident. Poor guy didn't have much luck. :(
 
After having been pretty much a vegetable since 2008 I'd say it's probably more a release than a tragedy. It must have been a pretty torturous 4 or 5 years for him and his family. I think everyone involved is in a better place now.
 
Yeah. I didn't know any of the back story on him until I was reading up on it tonight. So sad what happened to him. :(
 
I donated money to fund his recovery, I'm glad it went for a good cause. So sad to see him go.
I wish the best for his family and friends.
 
It definitely wasn't as entertaining seeing Deftones without Chi. Poor guy never got to experience an Axe-Fx II either. Hey Chi, say hi to Dimebag, my cat Thrice & dog Sully for me!
