Im about to purchase the OH bundles,
Just wanna know if Its already compatible with ultraRes coversion,
or I hv to wait until their next update announcement?
Thx for advise folks.

Sir,
Do u mean the current 1x12 & 2x12 s bundles from their online store are already 'UltraRes good to go'?
Are all their cabs .syx files already converted to ultraRes format or I have to convert their .wav files
manually by cab lab to make ultraRes effective?
Yet I can't find any threads from Kevin or his website that officially confirmed it,
I appreciate for your further advise.

Does this mean that those who bought the OH packs can get the Ultra Res as an update, or do we need to buy again?

Kevin will update the OH packs, so that everyone who has already bought the cab models will get the upgrade for free.

I would suspect that he will provide an ultra res version of each cab, unless Fractal ask him not to, so everyone buys a copy of Cab Lab which I honestly can't see happening as FAS are the least selfish and greedy company I've ever dealt with.

Bottom line is buy the OH and Fractal cabs, they will both release free updates in due course. Cab lab is a powerful too for getting a massive sound and using less CPU. You will not be disappointed.

My understanding is that you’ll have to convert from the .wav files yourself, at least initially.

When there’s been updates in the past, i.e. when Scott Peterson’s mixes got added to the 4x12’s, and whenever there’s an updated speaker in the 1x12 and 2x12 cabs, the process has always been to just login to your ownhammer account and re-download the product and the additions have all been included, with no extra charge.

Since we’re only talking about a new version of the same thing, I would assume that the process will be exactly the same. When Fractal releases the new Cab Lab with support for UltraHigh Res, we’ll be able to convert ourselves to UltraHigh Res and Kevin will as well. When he’s done and happy with the result, I assume they will just be added to the packs and we can download the UltraHigh Res versions of everything.

But nothing is certain obviously until there’s an official response from Ownhammer.

If I remember correctly the fractal cabs don't have enough lenght to be converted.

I don't think fractal can or want to avoid owhammer or any of us to convert any file and disbribute it freely IMO

I can't speak for Cliff and the Fractal Cab packs, however Kevin has already confirmed that all purchased cabs will be upgraded to ultra res for free.

I always use two cabs, is UltraRes applicable for stereo, or only mono?

Ultra Res is a mono utility. If you use a stereo cab to create a bigger sound, Cab Lab blend both together so you would only need a mono instance cab block. If you're using it for spatial field, then cab lab does not create a stereo cab from mono cabs. I hope that answers your question.

Ah, right now I see a problem. I was pleased to hear about the upcoming Ultra Res option. Even more pleased that it actually saves a few % CPU. Many of my presets are getting close to the dreaded 90%. But now I understand that the Ultra Res utility will only work in Mono. So, to have it work with my presets (stereo) I will require two separate cab blocks in each preset. That will undoubtedly overload quite a few of my main presets, so on the face of it, I needn't bother looking forward to this anymore...Drat!

Can I ask why you need a stereo sound? If it's to make your sound bigger, you could run one instance of the cab block and pan one cab left and the other right. Using Ultra Res with this shouldn't eat up any more CPU at all.

My setup is stereo, Its not to make it 'bigger' but for the use of stereo effects (delays, chorus etc..). I currently use a single instance of a 'stereo' cab block with each side panned L & R. From what I've just read, it looks like I won't be able to run a single stereo cab block in Ultra Res. It would need to be 2 x mono cab instances each panned L & R.

Aren't most of your effects post Cab anyway? I think that it wouldn't matter in that case.

regarding the fractal producer cabs here is what scott petterson posted some time ago.

he asked matt about it
What is available now is what it is; they were captured with Axe-FX II's IR capture only. No Ultra Res on these current Fractal Audio Producer Packs available as I post this; not now, not ever unless they are recaptured from scratch.

Future (aka NEW) packs will be available in UltraRes once it is released in the firmware updates.

NOTE: ***This is as was told to me and as I understand it. Subject to change or be altered; I don't work for Fractal and am just trying to help answer your question best I can.

THIS IS NOT THE OFFICIAL WORD - but it is 100% accurate to my understanding of what I was told.

All I did was contact Fractal Audio and ask them; that gets things explained far better than just a post on the forum. ;) :D

Please feel free to contact them directly and ask to confirm what I was told and am posting here.

Guys,

It's my understanding that in order to achieve minimum successful results, you need a .wav of about 80 ms in order to feel the effects of UltraRes. The maximum length can be, I think, 167 ms or some-such exacting figure. Since the 4x12 cabinet .wav files are at around 100 ms, you will be able to convert them into UltraRes files. You just won't get as defined a file as when he recompiles the .wav files later on. At least that's how I understood Kevin when I asked him about it.
