Can an IA switch select a scene and transmit a PC change within a preset?

You would need to set the type to None (as opposed to Drive1, Scene 1, ...). You can the program two different midi messages to send when the button is engaged/disengaged.

I did that, and only the program change works. When I press IA 2 for example, it switches my amp (program change), but it won't change to scene 2. Is there some setting that makes the axe respond to cc messages?

Are you sending on the correct midi channel? The easiest would likely be to run the Axe Fx on midi channel 1 and the amp on midi channel 2. And then send the program change on midi channel 2 and scene change on midi channel 1 (cc#34 value 1 for scene 2 in the Axe Fx from memory).

I had both being sent on channel 1. I am not sure I understand why that would be an issue. Could that be the problem?

Which MIDI channel is the Axe-FX set to? You need to use separate channels for this to work correctly, or else the PC for your amp would be changing Axe-FX presets too. It sounds like the Axe-FX is probably on a channel other than 1.

They are both on channel 1. In the I/O settings on the axe I told the axe to ignore pc changes. I figured that was ok since I am trying to get the axe to respond to cc messages. I have the axe set to zero presets per bank. My vision is to make each preset in a bank a song, with five scenes. Each scene can have different effects activated, and a different channel on my amp.

I guess that should work. Did you verify that scene select is set to CC#34 at the Axe-FX I/O: CTRL page?

Yes. I'll try putting them on different channels and make it so the axe can respond to pc messages. Maybe turning that off shuts off its ability to receive cc messages too.

Overall, the mfc is in axe fx mode, and set to total sync. Is that ok?

CCs still work with Prog Change = off. Axe-FX mode and total sync shouldn't cause this either. If separate channels doesn't solve it I'd try disabling the PC to see if the scene CC alone will change scenes.

Ok. Thank you for all your help. Much appreciated.

Can we send deferent messages in different presets?

I'd like to do something like this:
On preset X - send scene1 and program change to another device
and when preset Y is selected - with the same switch send scene1 and different program change
With the same switch on preset Z for example - scene2 and CC

Is it possible?

And when MFC is connected to Axe with Ethercon - midi thru works?

Thanks in advance!

There are many ways to accomplish this.
* Let the switch send the program change to select a preset. In the Preset configuration have an Internal CC configured to select the Scene.
* Just use the IA Switch CC feature to send both the PC and the CC (and set the Axe-Fx Function to None)
There are other ways. The MFC-101 manual is excellent and worth reading.
