Calibration of external pedal

Hi all,
I'm trying to calibrate an external pedal.
Symptom: while watching the little dot in the controller menu (of the Wah in this case) the pedal range 'starts' above half its range. And moves to maximum when doing the full range.
Attempted resolution: I go to the setup menu, and run the calibration for pedal 1. I do the calibration by moving the pedal through its full range a few times.
Result: no change - I cannot get the 'little dot' in the controller window to move its full range. Also, the Wah doesn't change until past half its travel.

Further info: the pot on the pedal is 100k. I'm assuming it's logarithmic because of its behaviour when moving it. It's a quarter turn pot. Think I might replace it with a 500k linear.

Anyway - my assumption was that the calibration should just detect the min and max value of the pot and make that the start and end of the controller range. Am I wrong?

The pedal is wired wrong. Tip, ring and sleeve are not correct. Either that or you're not using a TRS cable.

Sounds like you’re not using a TRS cable or not using an expression pedal jack or pedal.

Thanks @FractalAudio - I mapped out the wiring and found each end of the pot was on tip & sleeve, with the wiper on the ring. I swapped the tip & ring & Viola!!
