CabLab with Ax8

Axe-Master
I have been thinking about profiling my existing speaker setup for a while, and CabLab does the DI+Mic method which is perfect for me, as I do not have a reference amplifier.

So although I already have Torpedo CabIR, I thought, I might as well by CabLab and start profiling.

But I have some questions.
1) Will CabLab run in live mode (live mode = you play through your CabLab mix in real time) with Ax8, or do you need AxFX to do this?

2) Does CabLab export to other formats than SysEx - I have the Torpedo CAB, and it would be nice to be able to use my new profiles until I get Ax8

3) Will both the plugin version and the stand-alone version do profiling?

4) I have a recording interface and a DAW already - Is there any advantage of getting the standalone version rather than the plugin version?

Another thing, I have been using RedWirez IRs with my Torpedo C.A.B. Redwirez also includes IRs of the speaker impedance curves. I guess this is similar to what is modelled by the "Cab" page in the amp block. Is it possible to disable the "Cab" page and use the IRs instead?

I have only tried the Ir shooting think a couple of times with the axe fx and cab lab, it seemed to me that the cab lab is just a remote control for the axe fx.The axe fx sends a sonic signal through the cab when it is recording the IR. to play live through the cab for reference there is a patch for this I think it was patch 374 or something.

I have not heard any talk about the axe 8 and cab lab, this is a vary good question. Cab lab does have an ax-8 selection for connection, so I would assume it will play in live mode. there is not much on this in the manual. I see no mention of it shooting IR's.

You cannot shoot IRs with Ax8, since it is not an audio interface, but you can use any audio interface with CabLab to shoot IRs (at least that is how I understand it)

OK, so it seems the Ax8 has the scratch pad, so live mode should be OK

Anyone care to take a shot at 2, 3, 4 and the other thing ?

Cab-Lab would be nice in stereo - is that possible?
I just realised I can have 2 IRs in the speaker (cab) - that's great!
Is it possible to import/export a stereo IR to the CAB - it would be easier to manage the IRs in MixIR2 before AX8.

No, IRs are mono, but you could save your favourite stereo combinations as a block

The favourite stereo combination in AX8?

Did you do this in AX8 too?: your Axe-Fx II is hijacked before it reaches Out 1. It makes a round trip to Cab-Lab and is returned directly to the Axe-Fx Output 1 Jacks. Therefore, your Cab mix is the final effect - after any blocks on the grid. Audio is processed in full stereo - even though any IRs you export will be mono.

How do you handle stereo IRs? You create them in AX8 edit with mono blocks?

I'm used to work like this - 3 IRs - one center, two hard panned. And then some impedance curves. And beeing able to EQ and volume control them. This would be nice to find in the AX8.

That's only possible through cab lab. It sounds overly complicated though. I am sure, you could get to the same results using two IRs in stereo combined with the speaker tab in the amp block. (The speaker tab is the impedance curve)

Ok, thank you

- So you are able to pan in cab lab?
