Fractal Users,

When I make my patches I do it by plugging in headphones direct into the headphones jack. I seem to get the best quality sound that way and my patches come out decent. I wanted to try and use Cab Lab direct on the Fractal FM9 using the standalone version of Cab.

Downloaded my first Dyna Cab pack today as well as the latest Cab Lab.

In Settings --> Audio MIDI Settings:
  • Input is setup as FM9
  • Output is setup as FM9

I also turned on SW Live Mode. I had a patch where I disabled the Cab Block and that was loaded on the FM9. I was able also to connect to the FM9 with Cab Lab. Before loading anything I could hear the output of my FM9 with the cab turned off. However when I loaded anything into Cab Lab, its like I could still hear the FM9 patch without the cab, but it seemed to also output the Cab Lab output. This made it pretty much impossible to really hear what Cab Lab is doing.

Is it not possible to use Cab Lab this way? Did I miss a setting?

It sounds like you're just hearing latency. Try lowering the buffer setting in Cab-Lab.

You are supposed to hear Cab-Lab in live mode. That is what provides the cab modeling...

If it was latency I would hear a delay between what I played and the output. That didn't happen man.

I ended up setting the output to my sound device the Motu AVB and it worked!

Ok... This part of your OP is very confusing:
Sucks to confuse anyone. Just meant you can hear the harsh output without cab. But its also outputting the actual cab output too, which you can hear but not very well. In any case I realized how much I suck at dialing in Cabs this way. And I gained immense respect for people like York.
