Button broken

Hi all,

The reveal button has come out on my MFC-101 III. Is there any way to fix this, it doesn’t want to stay put when I put it back in and it looks as though the flanged end to keep it located has broken.

Any suggestions or help would be very well received.

Thanks.

I’m guessing the whole switch will need to be pulled off and a new one soldered on.
They are on a small board per 3, IIRC, and they probably change out that whole thing.

Soldering could be considered if you know how, can find a very similar part, and repairs sound too costly for you.

Damn - yeah, that’s pretty broken!

The MFC-101 switches are mounted on one PCB per row.

So you’ll need to either be comfortable soldering on a circuit board or you'll need to find an electronic repair shop.

It's possible Fractal might have replacement boards but that's probably a long shot.

You can contact support and ask though.

If you can miss one button in another spot, I suspect you could swap two of the boards.

Just be as careful as you can with the ribbon cables.

Maybe they can send you the replacement for a pretty good price (it's not rocket science inside).

I've sent my MFC in once, but that's because the true cause was less obvious.
