Building up Petrucci-style solo sound - short sound sample

Chronograph

Inspired
Hi there,

Been trying to make a sound for the solo parts in the vein of Petrucci style. Okay, I didn't want to clone his sound from the beginning to the end but rather catch that amazing airy open liquid vibe attached to it.

Guitar played - my new Oni Amboyna Burl Top 8-string, stock Oni Custom neck humbucker.

Enjoy.

Cool! Just like you said... not trying to sound like JP but the main character of the lead tone is there. I guess it's what I was going for in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnA64V--PMg :)

It's a cool smooth tone and I guess people tend to use a Mark IV for that but IMO the Recto with gain really high and treble cut back gives you a very magical lead tone. Delay will help. Wah will help. :D

Here is what I've been using. I got this on the forums, and for all I can remember, it's Clark's anyways.
It works on just about everything . Great solo tone.
I try to use it with a neck humbucker.
