Brady...

Personally, I despise the organization. Too many questions on the shenanigans in the past (the NFL swept years of tapes recorded by the Pats...and some others to be fair..under the table to protect the league...plus the *other* stuff.) Bill Belichick wasn't brilliant until Tom Brady showed up (although he has worked relentlessly and very effectively to build quality teams around him since.)

That being said (and personal bias aside), Brady is the best quarterback in NFL history. No question.

Yeah, it was tough to watch JJ at the end of that game. He was gassed, but was still trying to get some pressure. Just wasn't enough. One of the top 3 most difficult places to play on the road, and they did well.

How I feel about the Patriots is how I imagine most people generally feel about the Yankees.

It is really at the point that I generally EXPECT him to pull off the near impossible, especially for 4Q comebacks and game winning drives.

I'm originally from Michigan and I was an usher at the "Big House" for years when I was a kid .... I watched Brady develop while he was at Michigan ..., but I NEVER saw this coming .... :openmouth:

As a longtime Pats fan, I am not going to try and change your mind. Despising another team is part of the fun of sports. I remember watching those Sox-Yanks duels years ago where New York always pulled it out in the end, and nothing could make me like the Yankees.

I would add, however, that the charge of the Pats taping practices is just not true. The writer of the article claiming this, Jon Tomase, retracted it and the paper apologized (see attached photo). I’d also submit that Belichick was a helluva defensive coordinator for the Giants. The book Education of a Coach is a great read on him, though I wouldn’t blame you for not reading it. It’s not like I’m going to read a Jeter book anytime soon.

I love these debates (as long as they are civil!)

I'm not taking ANYTHING away from the organization, which has done it better and longer than every other team out there regardless of these things. But there is no doubt that some stuff *happened*. The thing I always questioned is WHY they felt like they needed to do it?

Although I think it will be interesting when Brady retires (I have a theory that Belichick will go off with him). He's not replaceable. And like I said, I am very glad to have been around to see him play (and his idol Joe Montana when I was but a tot.)

And Belichick is an excellent coach who showed a mediocre record until he was forced to start a 5th rounder when Bledsoe went down...and everybody went WOW! Lets face it, all these great coaches needed others to make them great. I will make the point that one of the greats, Bill Parcell's, considered one of the greatest coaches in history, could not win a super bowl WITHOUT Belichick...that sais something.

I stopped watching the NFL when Montana retired. I wasn't even a 49'ers fan, I actually followed the Seahawks. But Montana could put the team on his back and make the impossible possible.

He's a legend! What else can you say? I just wish the entire NFL would leave the politics off the field...it's a game, and a great one at that!

Very few athletes reach that level of will power; to win a game against all odds; with sheer determination.

Kudos to him for reaching that level.

On all other fronts I hate him and the Pats lol.... and NOT because I was born in Wisconsin and my dad met Vince Lombardi... lol

I'm a Texans and Pats fan, so it was hard/great to watch. Texans did themselves proud in one of the hardest places to win on the road, and Tom did what Tom does. As noted, you're watching history, so enjoy it. At 57, I've lived to see a lot of the greats play, and TB will be placed among the greatest (unarguably), and perhaps be the greatest (which will be forever open to debate), to ever play the game.

JJ's a competitor, monster player, and great representative of a game that is having an identity crisis these days. We love the guy here, and I'm sure that TB holds that place in the NE area. The game needs more guys like these.
