Best practice with locking tuners

So, how much of the string do you allow to wrap the tuner post when using locking tuners?

I think for it to work properly you need to have less than a wrap if I remember correctly. I run the string straight through and pull it basically hand tight, and lock the tuner like that. This results in around 1/4 to 1/2 a wrap for me.

Personally? At least 1/2 wrap on the post, typically between 1/2 and 3/4 wrap.

I'll pull it tight as to get all the slack out at the bridge, then lock it down, and tune up. No wraps, just pull it straight through the hole and lock it down. After tuning it wraps approximately 1/4... ish

If you start wrapping it around the post too much you're basically eliminating one of the main benefits of locking tuners, which is preventing detuning by string slippage around the post.

Hmmm. Almost.
In a properly aligned headstock, the edge of the tuner post, the nut and the saddle form a perfectly straight line so there's no bend at the nut. I tighten lightly by hand and then lock so that I get more than 1/4 wrap on the post and the string is perfectly aligned to the nut.
