New as in joining yesterday, but perhaps not so "new" in knowing hot button subject threads....

Well, let's just see how this thread plays out. I think I know how it's going to go, though. =(

Sorry for giving you the forum hazing. Things just move very slowly on the bass front. Very, very, very slowly.

Although there is a new Portabass and the SVT was remodeled on 2.05 FW. Gives me hope that the others will be updated and some new ones will be added to the mix. Generally though, bass updates are few and far between compared to guitar stuff.

More disappointing than touchy. I and others fought this battle mightily over the years...VARIETY being the operative. In 10 or so years of the AxeFx platform, what you see is all that there is for bassists.

Since I have access to a bass now, I've been having a go at making a bass preset. I did try the reworked SVT both before and after the firmware update and even I can tell there's a huge difference.

I don't know much about bass effects or routing though. I do know that I'll definitely have to tweak the wah to be more suitable (Cry Baby at default settings was very weak sounding). Chorus, rotary, and the Darkglass drive are the only things I've noodled around with so far.

As far as bass gear to model, all I really know is the stuff that I see being used at shows. Lots of Aguilar amps. Orange, SVT, Trace Elliott, Acoustic, Hartke, MarkBass, and Gallien-Krueger are what I recall seeing for bass amps but I'm ignorant as to specific models.

asking a weird question here: is there a way to make all those guitar amps to a bass amp by... playing with the advanced controls? any experiences? haven't seen much of that yet.

Try them out! You can't hurt anything...

Note that the Bassman was originally a bass amp. The JTM45 was based off the Bassman...

I'd be willing to bet that many of the existing guitar amp models work well as-is.

Probably you could also try swapping the tonestack...

Make one of these amp models sound like an Acoustic 370, SWR RedHead, or GK800RB. Thanks! ;)
