Bank Up/Down Only on External Switch?

I understand I can assign bank up/down on my external Mosky switch using the Stand-In function. But my understanding is that, a function must appear on a layout, in order for it to stand-in on another switch. Is it possible to just have bank up/down on the external switch without bank up/down appearing on my layout? I seem to remember doing that when I had the Axe Fx with FC6 but that was a while ago.

Right now, I'm using the OFMG9 layouts because, out of the box, they're almost there for me. I may just use per-preset functions for my effects. I'd like to not have Switches 6 and 9 dedicated to bank up/down on layout 1 though.

A stand-in switch can be on any layout/view...

I put my 3 external switches on View 2 of one of my layouts because I never use View 2.
