Baglama long neck saz on the Axe!

just for the sake of curiosity, i picked up a longneck saz (aka baglama) from marktplaats.nl.

3+2+3 strings tuned in 5th's with frets in unusual places (for us guitarists, that is). Your guitar technique will work, but otherwise you're in a different universe. And that boosts creativity.

It plays well with the black box, of course. a simple tube pre, some eq and reverb. The saz got plenty character of its own!

Anyone else play ethnic instruments on the axe?

Not playing it on the Axe, but I have picked one up when I was in Turkey for a Holiday.
When they saw me walking on the streets with that thing on my shoulder, they wanted me to come in at every bar or foodplace.
I mean a western man with a baglama??

Then we played together, they did their eastern thing and me the 4/4 rock beats.
I can tell you Joe Satriani or a blues, mixed with the Eastern scales was really a experience.
Not to say it was a blast sometimes.
