Wish AXE FX III - New block channel feature

Not sure if there is any hardware limitation, but it would be great if FX8 supported the new block channel feature.

Herer is the description of it from AxeFx III page.

"Our new “Channel” concept is a revolution in functionality. Each effect block has up to four channels with each channel containing a unique set of parameter values. Channel switching is instantaneous and seamless and can be done manually (via a foot controller, for example) or automatically when changing scenes. Channels can also be switch via MIDI for applications requiring automation."

FX8 already features X/Y, which is similar.

The same way that an Axe FX also have it.
Channels just gives more options as you can have 4 sets of parameters for the same block. Which may be even more helpful on the FX8 due to its limitations.
It looks like XY switch has been replaced on AxeFX III by the new channels feature.

the iii has monster cpu to spare..Ax8/Fx8 doesn't

I think it’s a memory issue, not CPU - remember that the Y side of a block in the X state doesn’t use CPU (because it loads the entire state from memory).

It would be awesome, assuming the AX8/FX8 had the memory to spare, if XY was rewritten as the Channels feature. Then, most blocks only get 2 channels as usual, but some get 4 channels on key blocks like amp, drive and delay.

This is just spitballing but I don’t think it’s feasible. The hardware was designed with XY (dual state) in mind - Hold for XY, and a specific LED indicating X or Y. Adding more states isn’t easy to show on the hardware.
