AXE FX III and Guitar Pro 8

I have just started to try to learn how to use Guitar Pro 8 and I have my AXE FXIII set as my audio output and input divers and all the midis are set to the AXE FX III. When I select "Electric Guitar in GP as my sound, the AXE switches my preset to 5153 Green. Anybody have a clue as to why that might happen? I usually use preset 95 EJ clean as my default, but the GP program changes it to 5153. Please forgive my ignorance as Guitar Pro 8 is a very powerful program and I know next to zilch about it. Yes I have read some of the manual but it is like 500 pages long, so I am looking for a little help on this one issue. Thanks to the group for any help you can provide..

sounds like GP is sending a preset change midi command when you change things in GP. you'd need to turn that off in GP i'm guessing.

do you need midi to be connected? are you controlling the axe with GP?

The reason I am using midi is that seems to be the only way I think that I can get sound out of my axe for GP. Maybe I'll disable the midi and just use the axe for my sound drivers. Maybe I will still be able to get the sound out of my AXE and my monitors. I don't want to use just my computer speakers for sound. Yeah, maybe I don't really need the midi. I just had the option to select it and that is what I did. Thanks for the hint!
