So, if we go through each preset (ones imported prior to FW 15 and not changed since then, including all the FAS presets) and "resave" it, does make it compatible with FW5?
I am digging this firmware a lot, So glad Cliff was able to include us all in the firmware updates
We were going to get this update no matter what. At least from my basic understanding of the 4.01b thread.
Drive models have been rematched:
?Improved diode clipping algorithms in Drive block
have been dramatically improved
+1
Radically different is right. There's definitely something wrong with the IIC++ model. I wouldn't say upper mids though, more like low mids/"mid" mids. When you select Latest, the amp model gets a lot darker and really raunchy sounding. It also gets a lot louder.
Oh well, guess I'll roll back to 4.01 beta until Cliff (hopefully) posts a bug fix.
Actually no. The new modeling stuff pushed it over the limit. The Mark I/II build ended up being several thousand words larger than would fit in the bootrom.
So this is bad.
As per release notes: code allowing backward compatibility for presets created on FW 15.08 or earlier is dropped. If there wasn't enough space, how'd you manage to make it work?
It fully depends on how much memory it freed and the size of the next update. Depending on how the code is updated some code changes do not increase in size much, if at all, and in some cases can theoretically make a program shorter/smaller (although the trend is inevitably up).Yeah sounds like a fix that just enabled Mark I, Mark II users to get one more update.
