Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 10.01 Firmware Release

Gapless X/Y has more to do with the processors on board than firmware, doesn't it?
I think it depends on the block being switched as well. An amp block will take longer than an a simple effect. It also varies within block models. Not sure if firmware would significantly shorten the gap.

Considering that the MKI firmware size is already maxed, it's a safe bet to say all of this probably won't happen

Hi Fremen Is that really the case (I.e. 100% full) or I wonder if there might be a little bit of space left? If we’re done, we’re done, no problems with that.

Any clues Cliff or M@tt?

Based on the largest firmware file released to date (Quantum v5.02, File size: 2,784,650 bytes) there is still 111,725 bytes of space available for firmware.
The largest firmware file released for the AxeFX II Mk I/II units to date was at Quantum v5.02 (file size: 2,784,650 bytes). Let's call 2,784,650 bytes the largest file size that will fit for the moment....
By firmware Quantum v7.00 Beta 2, five releases later, the firmware file size was reduced by 130,225 bytes (file size 2,654,425 bytes).
Eighteen releases later Quantum v10.01 has a file size of: 2,672,925 bytes.
All advancements made since firmware Q7.00 beta2 were accomplished using just 18,500 bytes.
The average increase in firmware file size per release since Q7.002 beta2 is ~1,028 bytes per release.
Firmware Quantum v10.00/v10.01, which brought some of the AxeFX III's advancements to the AxeFX II series, increased the firmware file size by just 8,560 bytes from Quantum v9.04 (file size: 2,664,365).

Based on the above information the remaining 111,725 bytes of space left for any future increases in firmware file size doesn't seem like much of a barrier.

File size: Firmware version:
2,784,650 bytes - Quantum v5.02
2,770,080 bytes - Quantum v6.00
2,774,215 bytes - Quantum v6.02
2,772,925 bytes - Quantum v6.03.1
2,779,435 bytes - Quantum v7.00 beta
2,654,425 bytes - Quantum v7.00 beta 2
2,658,130 bytes - Quantum v7.00
2,657,790 bytes - Quantum v7.01
2,658,025 bytes - Quantum v7.02 beta
2,660,140 bytes - Quantum v7.02
2,661,145 bytes - Quantum v8.00 beta
2,661,880 bytes - Quantum v8.00
2,662,885 bytes - Quantum v8.01
2,662,835 bytes - Quantum v8.02
2,662,950 bytes - Quantum v9.00 beta
2,665,255 bytes - Quantum v9.00
2,664,400 bytes - Quantum v9.01 beta
2,664,390 bytes - Quantum v9.01 beta 2
2,664,425 bytes - Quantum v9.01
2,664,375 bytes - Quantum v9.02
2,664,510 bytes - Quantum v9.03
2,664,365 bytes - Quantum v9.04
2,672,125 bytes - Quantum v10.00
2,672,925 bytes - Quantum v10.01

...at least another 111,725 bytes will fit AxeFX II Mk I/II units following Quantum 10.01

.....yes, I have too much time on my hands. :D (both ankles are broken so my activity level is a bit limited for the time being)

I had been tracking this anyway. The firmware file size list above was something I already had on hand when I typed up this reply. After commenting that the AxeFX Mk I/II units had pretty much run out of space (this was around the time of the Q5.02 release) Cliff found a way to reduce firmware file size, making continued support possible. I thought it would be interesting thing to track.

I'm happy with the AxeFX II as-is at Q10.01. Any further updates would be welcomed and appreciated but I have no expectations for future updates (wouldn't suck to have the Tri-Chorus though :D ).

I have no expectations, but it sure would be a pleasant surprise if the latest round of AX8 gap reduction improvements did eventually make it to the II series.
