Axe Fx II Final Update - Breaking News!

I wonder if this means the AX8 will be at end of life as well.
The question was asked in that thread... Was not yet answered.

I don't remember where in the hardware lifecycle the AX8 was introduced, but assuming it was before the XL+ then my guess would be that it has an equivalent amount of memory for code. However, the AX8 doesn't have all the features of the Axe Fx, so maybe that leaves memory that could still be used?

This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that visits the forum regularly. All products have an EOL. The Ax8 will be next.

That was a fun ride on the II. I think I started on pre-Quantum version 3 or 5. Lots of innovation took place there.

I sold my 2 the other day and it still sounded immense. I upgraded to the 3, but I didn't really need to, I just love new firmware days :)

This amount of dedication shown to a single product is neigh on unheard of in the tech industry. Bravo!

I had been assuming that the current release, 10.01 I believe, would be the last. It will be interesting to see what's in it, and whether that will require changes to 10.01 patches.

Terry.

Curious, does this mean the II XL & XL+ in addition to the II? I thought the
XL & XL+ were equipped with more memory Or was this just storage mem?

It adds some more of the Ares modeling from the III. You'll probably end of tweaking your patches a bit.

Truth be told, I was about to go back to recording with a real amp. Something just seemed off. This firmware has made me a believer. Sounds absolutely incredible. I spent hours noodling around with different amps because they all sound so good.

I think it was just storage for cabs and presets, the basic modeling, processing power and such was the same across the units.

My Axe sounded fine when I first got it. And that was what? Q4 or Q5? Best modeler I ever had, the first that made me forgo my analog rig. It sounds fine now too. I'm sure it will sound fine tomorrow too. I never understood this obsession with OMGZ WHEN'S THE NEW UPGRADE COMING!!!

As long as Ares 1.00 is as bug-free as possible, I can coast on that forever—I can’t imagine asking for more.
FAS’ ongoing support for this thing reminds me of nothing more than the vaunted Kurzweil K2000.

I used the Ultra I till the wheels fell off it...lol
Got the XL in 2013 or 2012...
It's for live performance and I don't record or do my own music..I play covers in casinos every weekend and earn the equivalent of a $22-$25/hr day job. For about 16 hours a week (including setup/tear down)..it's rare I need to use my OWN PA or Lights...
I do an entire night on mostly 5 presets...but.it's pop/top 40, and now the new "want" from the booking agents...the NEW CLASSIC ROCK...90s...lol
I do model certain sounds and or instruments where needed. But justifying another $2,500 for the III? Not working out of a studio..I don't know it matters.
