If it ran on the "solo" I'd consider it. That's $349. Any higher requirement just would put it too close to the price of a real unit after the plugin cost on top of the UAD card.
What I'd love to see is the editor ported over to run as a plugin in a DAW. Similar to what Access has done with the Virus TI.
I know it's not what some people are looking for, but it would simplify things quite a bit for those who use the Axe-FX for recording.

UAD plugins introduce a fixed latency, that would certainly kill one of the most attractive features of the Axe for me: zero latency.
FWIW Even if it happens, I wouldn't be interested.
So what you are saying is that UAD is not a realtime device?
Agreed. Personally, I record all guitar tracks with my Thermionic plugins on the bus. Then when it's time for mixdown, I re-amp through the Axe-Fx, but it's not with me for the actual recording process. Too much to lug around with my mobile setup. My Axe FXII is getting ready to leave my studio. Most people end up using my UAD or software plugins. Something about seeing the virtual hardware on-screen seems more inspiring. Funny thing is that I end up mapping the Helix Rack floorboard with scribble strips for them to control the effects. If Axe FX was available as a hardware-accelerated plugin it would change everything.
