AXE FX II configuration as MIDI interface

Hi everybody

I love DIY projects, and this time I am thinking about building a midi controller for my AXE FX II. I know, MFC-101 is awesome, but it may have too much functions for my bedroom player’s needs. My goal is mainly to learn something during the build, and not to make something "better" as what can be found on the market. (I currently use a POD HD500 as midi foot controller. It works perfectly)

I am not a all a specialist regarding MIDI implementation, and this probably why I choose this type of project. Learning by doing !

My midi controller will be based on the MIDI CPU, which can be found here :
MIDI CPU DIY MIDI Controller / MIDI Encoder / MIDI Brain – Highly Liquid Store

In order to make this PCB “alive”, I need to code it with sysex/code.
I have decided to use sendSX as an Editor to send the required sysex messages.
Bome SoftwareBome's Send SX - Bome Software - Freeware for sending and receiving any MIDI messages

I will need of course a MIDI interface.
I already own this one. I have already used it successfully for sending firmware update to a pod HD500, but for different reasons it may not work properly together with the midi CPU.

My question is:
Can I use directly the Axe FX II purely as MIDI interface to send sysex messages from sendSX editor to the MIDI CPU board ??
And of course, HOW ? (I don’t want it happens something bad to the AXE FX itself )

I have read the AXE FX manual, but it is not clear at all.
The soft sendSX “sees” the Axe FX II as midi in and midi out, but I don’t really know how to set up the AXE FX itself to make it work .
The AXE FX II has for sure MIDI capacities , but in “normal” situations, we only use Fractal bot to communicate with the axe FX.
This time this is a little different.

How should be set up “USB adaptator mode”, “midi channel”, ……?

Many thanks in advance for reading. All advices will be highly appreciated.
Emmanuel
