Axe-Fx guru's...I have a routing question

I have a single channel head with an fx loop and no fx send level. I'm going to use a Rocktron Patchmate to allow me to use my Axe-Fx for fx with my head and for preamp tones. Basically the 4 cable method thing, but I'll be going through a looper. However, I've just realized that when I'm running the Axe-Fx as a preamp into my amp's power amp [via the fx return] the master volume on the amp doesn't affect the volume. So to balance volumes between the amp and preamp volumes when I change venues I'd have to adjust the output knob on the front of the Axe-Fx and the voume on the amp. Won't that change in levels screw up any patches where I'm using fx from the Axe-Fx with my head?

Hi fearhk213, welcome to the forum!

This is a tough question; you have some pretty specific conditions (no fx-send level on amp, looper inserted in 4CM, amp's mv doesn't control output). Your situation may be rare enough that no one else on the forum has run into this specific situation.

What's been your experience, when you've tried this with your Axe-Fx and your amp?

Thanks for the response. I'm in contact with a rig builder right now and he said since the loop in my amp is passive that it won't work. I'm trying to find out if a dumblator type of out board loop will do the trick. I'll update when I find out more.
