Axe FX 2 XL freezes and wakes up starting Axe Edit

Hi there,
from time to time my Axe FX 2 XL freezes and only get into a normal operating mode when I start Axe-Edit. I have a MFC 101 connected to the Axe. When it freezes the Midi Led at the Axe is permanently lights up green. At the MFC there is a Expression pedal connected.
Meanwhile I read a lot in this forum but nothing really helped me figuring out the problem. I did resets, deleted all presets etc.
Has anyone else here a similar issue and solved it?

Use it awile without the mfc connected and see if it still freezes.

Yes, I do so. The expression pedal I can connect directly to the Axe.
