Axe-Edit with my old Windows 7 laptop

I'm seeing if I can get my old Acer laptop, running Windows 7 to work with my AX8. So far, it isn't.

I thought Windows 7 was new enough to be compatible. If it isn't, I apologize.

I have Axe-Edit installed and it comes up, but I can't get my AX8 and the computer to talk to each other through the USB port. I'm using the same cable that I successfully use on both of my Macs.

Tell me my computer is just too old and I'd believe you. I'm just wondering if there is something else I can try. (Tried installing a driver from the Fractal site, but it isn't installing. I get an error message.)j

Any suggestions before I just throw this computer away?

I'm using (and will for next 4 years) win7 and everything works perfectly,
So it's probably a driver problem

I used Axe Edit with Win7 for at least a year when I first got my Axe Fx.

But you have an AX-8... Shouldn't you be using the editor for that?

Not sure there is a "should" or "shouldn't" about it.

If you have an ax8, use ax8edit.
AxeEdit is for AxeFx

Axe-Edit is for the Axe Fx... You need to use AX8-Edit for the AX-8.

Me too...on a 10+ year old Quad Core, no less. Works great.

Actually there are three, one other is fx8edit
