Hello! I am just what wondering what wireless unit everyone will be using to plug into the ax8? Also how will you be powering it?

I have a line 6 g50 powered by a voodoo 4x4 on my amplifire rig and it works great.

Thanks!

G50 and I'll probably make a power supply in a Hammond box with a 120v IEC in and out connector and a 9v pedal supply. I've got a couple of boards but I'll wait until I have it in hand and can come up with the best layout for my needs...

G30. I'm not sure if I'll use my voodoo labs PP2+, or just use the supplied wall wart, or what pedalboard I'm going to put it on for that matter! :mrgreen

I'll prolly use my Sennheiser G2 at casinos like I do now. I get dropouts with the G30 at two places.

Either Shure GLXD16 or Line 6 G70 - a while back I used a G50 on a traditional board for years with great sound and never had any problems from the G50.

The Shure look really good and get great reviews, and the G70 addresses all the small things I'd have done differently had I designed the G50 ( Jack input on the transmitter, jack in on receiver for back-up, multiple body packs possible, text and color to show which guitar/ body pack is active, levels programmable for each body pack/guitar, dual out (programable), tuner, DI out)

I have to check the Shure out in more detail for features like whether multiple body packs are possible before I decide.
If I end up going with the Shure I might change the G90 in my rack to a Shure unit as well to have the same system and more body packs.

I'm using a Sony with my FX8. I had to send the first one back due to noise, but this one was good.

Shure GLXD as well and I'll most likely just run a power cable with 3way split to the front by my board to power the AX8, wireless and one more plug for whatever.

Thanks for the replies! I am hoping a pedal power courtesy outlet will power the the AX8. I am thinking a voodoo pp AC to power a wireless unit and my tc-helicon harmony pedal to complete the rig.

Panel up the front of the pedaltrain pro with a powercon cable and my 2 XLR outs for guitar and vocals :)

I had used G50 and G90 from Line 6. With AxeFx2 and tested the FX8 with G50.
Sold the G50 and now using the GLXD16...

Think of selling the G90 and purchase a second unit from Shure, but the GLXD14...

Line6 wirelesses have failed me (and the bands I'm in) too many times. I'm moving to Sennheiser ew 572 G3 for instruments very soon.

GLXD Shures has lithium batteries and max to 15/16hrs. Are easy to recharge. GLXD14 version has a charger on the unit.
An extra battery costs 30 bucks.
Has a good scan for free frequencies..
The conector has somekind of a lock.
They are the same plug as the Line6 G50/g() but has a lock on the plug...

I am also interested to know if there is a neat power supply solution available that can provide 9v output with high amperage to a wireless unit like the Shure GLXD16 as well as a mains outlet for the AX8. Anyone have any suggestions?

For me, the idea of an AX8 is to keep it as simple as possible...

This is a concern for me, I so wAnt the ax8 but having the 2 for easy stereo out, one cable on floor (for midi) and wireless neatly cabled and tucked away in my rack is pretty huge. I really use wireless because many gigs I have to do sound so I can walk the floor with my guitar to check main mix easily. But once the mix is dialed I'm good wireless OR cable. A few gigs I have played distance to rack was too far so wireless is necessity.
I use the L6 G50, have had only a few weird dropouts over many gigs.
but being able to shed a 4 space rack would be pretty sweet. I have a gig on Saturday and I'm bringing everything and as I pack, prep and setup / breakdown I'm going to pay close attention to weather the AX8 would actually help or hinder.
It would definitely help for gigs where I just show up and play / sing. Those would be mono gigs as well.

I too work in a band where we run sound from the stage. I am intrigued by the shure wireless line. I own 3 line6 transmitters. The input jack broke by a buddy of mine and I was told replacing it was simple...not so simple. I bricked the unit and was forced to by a replacement....I actually bought 2 more and 1 to use for a backup. The thing keeping me from the shure line is that I own 2 XDV-75 (mic and transmitter) and the G50. Dropouts are not an issue for me as I stay relatively close to my rig.

I have the (relatively) new Line6 G70. Fits on a pedal board, and you can use regular cables for the transmitter, unlike most other products that require one of those weak-ass custom cables.
