AX8 noise problem

Hi, I'm having a noise problem with my AX8. It started one day when it was very humid where it was, and when I turned it on, it started making constant noises. I've tried cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol, changing cables, using different plugs, updating the software, and resetting it.I took it apart and left it in the sun too. I tried everything. Two technicians looked at it, and neither could fix it. I need help. Thank you very much.

The steady, ultra high humidity in our area, coupled with multiple issues affecting our basement, has messed with my electronics as well. Most of my gear is currently in storage.

We need to know more.

  • Does the noise come through the outputs, or is it coming from your AX8 itself?
  • What kind of noise are you hearing? Static, hum, hiss, clicks, or...?

I want to send a video to show, but it won't let me. I tried the different outputs on the pedalboard, and they all make noise. The noise is similar to when a cable isn't working properly. I tried different cables, and a wireless one too.

You have to have ten posts under your belt before it'll let you post a video. It helps to keep the spammers at bay. Meanwhile, put the video up on a server somewhere, and tell us how to find it.

Does that meant that the noise is coming through the outputs, and isn't a physical noise coming from the box itself?

There's more than one noise that a broken cable can make. :)

While you're putting up that video, try this: When you're hearing the noise, turn your guitar's volume knob all the way down. What happens to the noise?

I saw your video on FB. Have you tried a different outlet in a different area? Could be something new elsewhere causing interference. I used to pick up an AM radio station in Casper back in the day.

I uploaded it to YouTube.

Two different technicians have already seen it. Neither of them could solve it.

The noise goes away when yo disconnect your guitar. That means the noise is coming from your guitar.

That means there's a source of interference nearby that your guitars are picking up.

Or that your guitar cord is picking up.
Wouldn't the input be bypassed when it's not plugged ? Meaning it could come from the AX8 signal chain but not making noise when nothing is plugged ? Also I'm guessing the technicians would have tried on a clean/isolated power source ?

No. Unplugging your guitar doesn’t bypass the input. It removes the input completely.

It’s not the power source that’s the problem. Interference is transmitted through the air, to be picked up by your... pickups. :)
