AX8 Low Volume Issue to Studio Monitors Using SPDIF and Scarlett 6i6

Title speaks for itself. Was like lifting a wet blanket off my AX8 when I stopped routing through the Scarlett. The change in volume and clarity was huge. Stock presets sound great.

Could there be an AX8 setting or Scarlett 6i6 setting that I’ve had completely wrong? I know several people use this set up.

Also, my monitors now sound clearer and better than the Atomic CLR. Could this just be due to volume / Fletcher Munson?

Said differently, the Scarlet and SPDIF combo is sucking about 75% of the volume out of the monitors, versus just going direct from the Axe to the back of the studio monitors. @2112 have you ever had this problem?
