Clicking the Info Button (?) at the right of Auto-Audition button, it opens a window information:
The behaviour of Auto-Audition is told in the second paragraph: "Auto-Audition allows you to single click or use the up/down arrows on your computer keyboard to make auditioning even easier"
If I enable Auto-Audition, and I move up and down with keyboard or I do a single click, the tone doesn't change. I have to do double click or hit enter to audition the preset.
So it seems there is no difference between enable/disable Auto-Audition.
PS: I'm using Editor 1.04.01 fw 4.00 beta 2 on macos 10.14

As @chrisni says, there is a bug also in "Manage Cabs"window. It's not possible to audition the cab.
