Not a Bug Ares 1.03 Delay mix

If you use dual anyway, you can turn down "Level right" to zero and set "pan left" to middle or zero and then turn down "level left" to maybe under 50%, it will then be mono and a very low level delay.

That would be just like using mono delay config and reducing mix or input gain.

There are more consistent ways than ducking to make delays decay faster from second repeat onward. For example, pan dry signal left into dual delay with equal L/R times, both delays panned center. Feedback L>R = decay from 1st to 2nd repeat; Feedback R>R = decay from 2nd repeat onward. Leave other feedback controls at 0.

Which is exactly what we want to do, just much much harder. IMO The overall problem is that "level" in delay block turns down all signal, it should naturally only turn down the delay signal. It would be a kind of "master mix".

Yes sure maybe this can be used instead, but you do need some really long hair and some good grass to warm up on to play around with that stuff.

The mix control already works like this. Mix, not level.

Delay MIX works differently than other MIX parameters. The dry signal stays constant at unity until Mix reaches
50% then decreases linearly to zero. Conversely the wet signal starts at zero and then increases linearly to unity
when Mix reaches 50%.
 
The issue I’m having is the first few repeats of a mono delay have a too louder volume at the signal that is being sent to external fx block - as if my amplifier is comperessing them. It’s a matrix gr1000 and a normal guitar cabinet.
 
Have you tried lowering delay mix and comparing Out 1 > FRFR with the Out 2 > Amp setup recently?

You could place delay as last effect (100% mix) parallel to a shunt. Then the delay level can be reduced at Out 2 using its FXL row level control.

Nothing changed with the delay in Ares, so this is a lot of guesswork without a recording. Maybe the amp is compressing. Make sure you're testing with a mono delay panned center. The ping-pong would have actually sounded louder if you sent only the left channel (not L+R summed) to the amp, but it would also be missing the right-channel repeats.
