are the Quick Control encoders stepped or smooth?

just curious.
are they stepped, semi-smooth as in Novation products, or really smooth like for exsample Waldorf encoders?

The encoders are definitely stepped. You can feel each step distinctly but the knobs rotate easily.

I haven't felt the knobs of the Novation or Waldorf so I can't compare.
