Anyone else blown an EVM12L?

Looks like I've blown an EVM12L run from one channel of my Matrix 800. Thought it would have been safe (250W into a 200W speaker), but I guess not. Sounds like a bad fuzzbox on low strings at low volume. It can get louder, but the underlying fuzz is still there. I can't see any obstructions so I guess I've fried it.

Anyone else done the same?

I had something like that happening on one of my old, bought-used, 12L's.
Took it to a local speaker repair shop and the guy found that the little air filter (not sure if that's the correct term) on the back of the speaker had come loose.
It's a little screen, like on a screen door or a pot pipe, that sits inside the little hole on the back of the speaker magnet in its dead centre.
I think it prevents dust from getting inside the back of the speaker.

He basically took the little screen right out and then re-glued it to the outside of the magnet (so it would still function to prevent the dust from getting inside the driver).
No more problems. But might affect my ability to sell the speaker if I ever need/want to.

So your 12L might not be blown after all.
Get it checked out.
