Amps as Drives? Awesome!

This was a thing for a short while in the 80s, when slaving real amps down to line level became possible. Soon thereafter, higher gain amplifiers came along and it faded away.
 
Hey Leon, when going from a scene where the amp block (used as a drive) is on, to a scene where the amp block (used as a drive) is off, are you able to change scenes without getting a loud popping noise?

I tried it using the Bogner Red and Blue as preamps with the Axe FXII way back when this idea was first discussed. There was always a really loud pop whenever I turned on the preamp or switched to a scene that had it engaged, so I gave up on it.

And for people wanting to use their AxeFx with 2 guitars and one bass, a drive block can sound perfect for bass
