Amp into Passive FRFR using Axe FX Cabs?

I recently acquired my matrix FR10p and had an idea, but not sure if it would work or be safe.

Using a tube amp into the passive frfr cab, but using the axe fx in the fx loop to use the cab simulation?
My thoughts are that the amp powers the frfr cab like normal and that with the axe being in the fx loop that it is safe.

Not something I'd be looking to gig with, just an idea I thought I could try. Any thoughts?

What tube amp did you have in mind ?
I have a Blackstar Stage HT-100, which has been sitting dormant since I got the Axe. Since I've got a FRFR cab now I thought this would be a way to hear it through a variety of cabs. Would it work with how I described it in my original post?

It sounds like your original post should be just fine - many people run their AXE into the FX return and out to 1 or more speakers
I would keep cab sims on in your case.

Whatever you do though, do not plug the speaker output of your amp into the AXE-FX input.

Keep the signal path like this:
Guitar -> Axe FX In -> Amp FX Return -> Matrix Speaker
