Amp—>FX8—>Audio interface?

Hey guys! Just wanted to ask for opinions if this is ok. So I got the FX8 hooked up with the Tc50 amp with 4CM. Last night I experimented, instead of plugging the mono output of the fx8 to the return of the amp, I made my patch stereo and hooked it up to my audio interface. I’m using cablab 3 for the IR’s. I got a pretty good sound to be honest.

But am I missing the power amp section? Or does the cablab 3 include power amp stage? I bought the cablab 3 months ago but haven’t really played with it till last night.

I’m using a yamaha hs8 for my FR monitor btw. Thanks in advance for any advice.

You are missing the power amp section of your signal. You could either use a load box like the Fractal LB-2 and use that into an IR loader, or you could mic the actual amp.

Is this just meant for home demoing? If it is, you could just download some VST amps and run the FX8 into your interface. If it's for proper home recording, you're going to want to mic your amp.
