Alice in Chains Ubershall Tone Match

Hey guys,

i spend some time the last days with tone matching again and did some great high gain and classic rock sounds from van halen, richie sambora, slash and so on. here is a new one i did today. jerry cantrell has one of the coolest high gain crunch sound for me and so i tried a tone match with a multitrack. here is the result. i mixed the guitar a lil bit louder to hear how original it sounds..I'm sorry i had no talk box at home, so here is just the rhythm guitar :D....but i think i really nailed it!!! i used the bogner ubershall an then a tonematch block. i then stored the tonematch as a user cab, set the tonematch block to bypass and set in a cabblock with the stored IR. i always do it this way, to use all the functions you don't have in the TM block ( stereo, room level and so on ). I used my EVH Wolfgang. So here it is with the backing track and then my guitar alone. if interested i will post the patch[SOUNDCLOUD][/SOUNDCLOUD]

Sounds really good. I am curious as to the Wicked Sensation tone match sample that was on your sound cloud page. What amp did you use?

Thanks for sharing!

Sounds really good! Nice and clean, whereas it's hard to resist turning up the gain and making it muddy. I learned this tune for a cover band a few years back and initially setup my talkbox for it, but after further listening, I realized it's mostly wah with some talkbox overdubs (I think Jerry just uses a wah on this live). Jerry uses a Crybaby with the frequency range moved down a little (so the heel down gives more of a closed feel).
